RELL LAVALLEE

Rell came from a family of strong-minded women.  Her mother was a high ranking member of the military who worked her way up from the very bottom.  Before her, Rell's grandmother had been born outside the Dome and managed to carve out for herself a solid place within it, though her reputation was none too pleasant by the end.  Rell herself, given the benefits of her foremothers' hard work, was expected to do great things. 

It was a lot of pressure on the pallid girl.  She faced her share of bullying and torment due to her albinism.  Some held it up as a sign of her family's taintedness, proof that her grandmother's early life outside the Dome had permanently twisted her genes.  But Rell didn't let that get in her way.  She gave as good as she got and learned not to care what anyone thought of her.

Like her mother before her, she went into the military at a young age and swiftly worked her way up the ranks.  She worked hard, fought hard, was hard.  Her mother was very proud.  Then tragedy struck.  Her mother was out on patrol.  It was to be her last patrol before her retirement, but the entire squad was overrun by a horde of echos.  There were no reported survivors. 

Rell grieved in her own way; namely by pouring herself even more thoroughly into military life. She became harder, colder, more severe. And she was utterly lethal. It was a particularly bloody "campaign" against a group of ravaging echos that marked her for promotion for major to colonel. She had been patrolling with her squadron when they received a distress call from another patrol group. Rell and her squad snuck around and ambushed the echos from behind, decimating their numbers and giving the other squad a chance to regroup. The other squad's captain had been killed early in the attack and their forces were milling in confusion. Rell took command and between the combined forces utterly wiped out the attacking echos with only minor losses to her own soldiers. 

Showing a great mind for strategy and command, it was only a few years later that Rell was promoted to brigadier.  It was far higher than anyone thought she would reach.  While, proud of how far she came, she was not power hungry.  She believed that General Harper's methods were the right ones and was fiercely loyal to her superior.  She will do whatever it takes to make sure order is kept in the Dome.
