HUMANS
MINORITY
Humans are pretty basic. They have no special powers or talents though are notoriously intelligent and violent. They caused the initial end of the world, taken over by Echos and ended up screwing themselves over. To this day they refuse to work together toward a main goal and rather spend their time fighting and rebelling. They've mostly retreated inside a dome to live like livestock.
ECHOS
MAJORITY
The main "enemy" these are past-humans who were infected with the deadly virus turning people into zombie like creatures. They do have a form of higher function, some more than others, and can be quite powerful. They have strange skin tones and patterns, and can be easily recognized by their unbalanced gait and inability to focus. Still, they are predators and become more active at night when their sun warmed muscles cool and stretch and they can run without stopping for up to 2 hours due to the fact they no longer need air to survive. Armed with sharp teeth and nails they're slowly beginning to develop powers like the whispers, which makes these flesh eating monsters terrifying. They've devised a way to secure a good meal by making pacts with humans, allowing them to borrow their powers for a stretch of 5 years before devouring them whole.
WHAT A PACT ENTAILS:
- The human is able to borrow up to two abilities from the Echo
- For up to five years, the Echo will protect the human
- The Echo will help the human in their quest to achieve a singular goal
- Other Echoes will typically stay away from said human, unless they are part of the horde
- At the end of the five years the human will be devoured by the Echo
- A human will typical bear at least one mark similar to the visage of the Echo somewhere on their body, typically in an easily concealed place
- A contract is enforced via a venom that every Echo is able to produce and injects into a human for contract purposes which will end the Echoes life should they fail to fulfil their contract
WHISPERS
RARE
Infected humans in the beginning stages of Echo transformation. They hold the ability to manifest and even weaponize matter, though they are often reckless and unstable. Their actively rotting brains and organs leaves them unable to eat and heightening their emotions to frightening status. They are mostly human in looks with only one or two Echo markings and hollow eyes. They always look hungry but with enough focus can pass through most human outposts without suspicion. Many hold a hatred for humans for abandoning them in such a way that they could become infected, and many rip out their immunization chips out of frustration.
